Affordable, Easy to Use Predictive Agriculture Technology for the Wine Industry & Specialty Crops

Winner of a highly-selective National Science Foundation SBIR Award, Agrology is the first company to offer agriculture systems that mitigate, predict and address issues with smoke taint, irrigation and climate change

The Problem

Farmers are facing new challenges and current sensor and data gathering technology doesn’t deliver a streamlined experience to provide a grower useful data and a complete view of their threats and issues.

Issues like:

  • Climate change - Farmers are facing new challenges and data is the path to surviving and thriving. Wildfires, drought and limited resources are all ongoing threats that have to be addressed to protect crops and livelihoods.

  • Accurate data isn’t being gathered  - To be able to gather and use data for forecasting, the right inputs have to be set up. Up until now, sensor and data solutions have fallen short. Sensor solutions track one or two data sets (like irrigation or air quality,) but there has not been one solution to track everything.

  • Data isn’t understandable - Data is being collected and in fact, many growers are awash in data. The issue is the data is not being delivered in a way that can be easily understood. Ag platforms aren’t serving up data in ways that make it easy to interrupt or act upon.

The Agrology Solution

Agrology is the first streamlined system of sensors, machine learning technology, data processing, and data delivery that makes it easy for farmers to micro-track their crops, receive data and make decisions.

Agrology is the first solution to solve the 3 major problems in 1 easy-to-use system by:

  1. Gathering the most accurate data on multiple touchpoints: Including nano-climates, regions, weather patterns, air quality, and ground truth data on soil--all from one advanced, easy to install sensor. Agrology accurately places the sensors to enable data gathering at a micro level in the field.

  2. Applying machine learning to turn data into the most accurate calculations: The speed of machine learning allows Agrology to easily understand highly-complex, multiple data points, and then use those data points to alert farmers to issues or predict future issues. Agrology calls this “Predictive Agriculture” which is the future of this industry as it adds a level of insight and sophistication to farming that actually helps growers plan and act accordingly.

  3. Delivering the right information in the best format: Once Agrology processes all of the data, it is delivered via an easy-to-use mobile app that gives farmers quick dashboards, issues alerts, and provides further info on specific data points. Customers rave that Agrology is the best user experience they’ve ever seen.

The Agrology system is currently in use in 500 acres in Northern California, including the vineyards of the Duckhorn Wine Company. The system continues to grow in adoption as the industry approaches new ways to use technology to make data-driven decisions.

Winner of a highly-selective National Science Foundation SBIR Award and a UC Davis Partner. The National Science Foundation bestowed Agrology with the prestigious SBIR Award which included $1.25M in SBIR grants. In addition, Agrology has partnered with the world’s leading smoke taint expert at UC Davis to develop the company’s smoke taint detection technology.
